The exhibit, titled "Fauxtanicals," features original paintings, prints, giclees, and upcycled clothing art, and will be on display until the end of July. The opening reception, attended by family, friends, and new faces, was a resounding success, with Ploplis engaging in detailed discussions about his art process and techniques. The artist's favorite medium is common enamel spray paints, which he combines with dish soap to create a batik effect. Despite lacking official art training, Ploplis has always had an artistic aptitude, inspired by his family's creative talents. His wife, Erin, and children, Reilly and Raegan, are his biggest supporters, and their encouragement has been instrumental in his artistic journey. The exhibit not only showcases Ploplis' talent but also highlights the therapeutic benefits of art, as he used it to manage his PTSD. This marks a significant shift from his previous career as a flight paramedic, where he struggled with mental health issues. Ploplis' decision to pursue art full-time has allowed him to slow down, enjoy the creative process, and develop his skills. He is also expanding his artistic horizons with a clothing line called Winging It, featuring bleach artwork on hoodies and T-shirts.
